Project Overview

Quarters is an immersive 3D voxel editor built in Unity for the Meta Quest 3, crafted to turn your own room into an intuitive creative sandbox. Developed during the XRCC Hackathon 2024, the project empowers users to sculpt with voxels in mid-air using natural grab-and-snap gestures. With both of their hands and a rich color palette, everyone can rapidly create pixel-art 3d sculptures using our Lego like blocks!

Under the hood, Quarters leverages the Meta XR SDK and interactions alongside custom C# systems to manage the dynamic voxel creation and snapping with smooth FPS. The editor features a color palettes with 8 colors to choose from, an eraser for deleting mistakes, and a very intuitive and satisfying snapping system to sculpt. The palette places itself within easy reach without obstructing the workspace.

Quarters was awarded first place in the “Hobbies & Skill Building” track, recognized for its performance, polish, and potential.
